The Classic Laddy

I had the chance to do a Virtual tasting with some old and new friends. We were tasting a fantastic Unpeated Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky called Bruichladdich The Classic Laddy. Lets first talk about this bottle is stands out like no other the blue color and fell of it just makes just want to find out more about it. We will get to the tasting notes in a bit. Hang in there. Some History about the brand Bruichladdich was founded in 1881 by the Harvey Brothers and has seen many challenges over the long years of its lifetime. They are true all the way through from harvesting to production. I was honored to learn more and taste with them.

Lets first break down this Scotch. Each bottle has a number on the back of the label that you can punch in on the website (Bruichladdich) and get tons of information about the barrels, climate and production all around.

The ABV is 50%

Here is some of my tasting Notes from our Virtual Class and event.

NOSE – The nose is brilliant and exciting. I encourage you not to stick you whole nose in the glass but simply small hints with your mouth open as well, Opening with barley sugar and a hint of mint before leading into the most wonderful notes of freshly cut wild flowers. Some stone fruit, buttercup, and cherry blossom.
PALATE – Sweet with some soft oak The fruits from distillation have a strong taste of apricot and mandarin. A combination of rip fruit, brown sugar and sweet malt bring closure.
FINISH – Delightful!!! This scotch is great on its own and as I was enjoying it, I could not help but think of a ton of cocktails I would create with it. The caramel really comes through on the finish.
